How Do You Correctly Measure the Size of Your Glasses?

Choosing glasses that fit perfectly isn’t just about style — it’s about comfort, balance, and vision. Whether you’re ordering online or replacing your favorite pair, knowing your correct glasses size ensures your frames sit comfortably and look great.
Here’s a simple guide to help you measure your glasses the right way 👇

1. Understand the Three Key Measurements

Every pair of glasses has three main measurements, usually printed on the inside of one arm. They look something like this:
52 ▢ 18 140

Each number represents:

  • Lens Width (52 mm) – The horizontal width of one lens.

  • Bridge Width (18 mm) – The distance between the two lenses (the part that rests on your nose).

  • Temple Length (140 mm) – The length of the arms from the frame to behind your ears.

🧠 Tip: These numbers are measured in millimeters and determine how your glasses fit your face.

2. Measure Using Your Old Glasses

If you already own a comfortable pair, simply check the inner side of the temples for these numbers.
Use them as a reference when buying your next pair — especially online.

If they’ve faded or aren’t visible, you can measure them yourself with a ruler or measuring tape.

3. Check the Total Frame Width

This is the overall width of your glasses from one hinge to the other.
It determines how the glasses sit on your face:

  • Too narrow → glasses press on your temples.

  • Too wide → they slide down easily.

To measure:

  1. Lay your glasses flat.

  2. Measure from the outer edge of one lens to the other.

  3. This total width helps you pick frames that match your face shape and size.

4. Lens Height (Especially for Multifocal or Progressive Lenses)

If you’re using progressive or bifocal lenses, lens height matters!
We recommend a minimum lens height of 35 mm to ensure enough space for the different vision zones.

Single-vision lenses, however, can be any height you find stylish and comfortable.
